Borsheims Helps Girl Scouts Learn Art of Jewelry, Create Bracelets March 02, 2016 (0 comments)
Omaha, NE—A group of Omaha Girl Scouts might be considering a future career in jewelry after spending an evening as amateur jewelrymakers at Borsheims Fine Jewelry here.
About a dozen Girl Scouts from area middle schools participated in the event and learned what it’s like to be a jeweler. First they toured the store, then visited Borsheims’ in-house shop and watched Master Jeweler Karen VanHaitsma work. VanHaitsma answered many questions for the girls and then led them in creating their own beaded bracelets featuring the gemstone aventurine. The girls strung aventurine beads along with a round disc inscribed with an intention of their own choosing—including bravery and happiness among others—into a bracelet. The choice of aventurine was a nod to their upcoming fundraiser artVenture, where one of the bracelets, featuring a rose gold diamond charm, will be raffled off.
