JCK Show Honors Top Retailers and Exhibitors
Las Vegas, NV—JCK Events announced the show Design Center's Top 50 Retailers and named the recipient of the new Design Center Editor's Choice award on Friday, May 29 during the JCK Show. Lars Parker-Myers, JCK's manager of strategic accounts, said, "These are the retailers who support this area of the market—the unique, the innovative, the exceptionally well crafted-like no other."
The number-one winner of the 2015 Top 50 Designer Retailer Award went to Gallery of Jewels, a three-store chain based in San Francisco, CA. Husband-and-wife owners Bill Hoover and Dona Taylor accepted the award, along with the firm’s employees attending the show. The retailer carries jewelry from 140 independent designers.

The Top 10 of the 50 retailers also were called to the stage for recognition: G. Thrapp, Indianapolis, IN; Greenwich Jewelers, New York, NY; Jewels That Dance, Asheville, NC; I. Gorman Jewelers, Washington, DC; Charde Jewelers, Houston, TX; Aaron Faber Gallery, New York, NY; Cursive, Brooklyn, NY; The Clay Pot, Brooklyn, NY; and last year's winner, Z Folio Gallery, Solvang, CA. W magazine's Claudia Mata announced the winner of the first Design Center Editor's Choice Award. The award recognized a designer who breaks the boundaries of innovation and originality, while combining new trends and classic ideas, celebrates imagination, and excels at craftsmanship. Votes were cast over the course of two days after editors viewed the top three finalists: Arya Esha, Anita Sondore, and Marcia Budet,who received the top honor.
"Winning the first annual Editor's Choice Award means the world to me. This is my first big show and, as a JCK Rising Star, it feels incredible that my point of view as a designer is being acknowledged. I will never forget how special this felt," said Budet.

In Memoriam: Mary Krombholz, Krombholz Jewelers
Cincinnati, OH—Mary Krombholz, wife of Herb Krombholz and mother of H. Lee Krombholz of Krombholz Jewelers, died June 7 at age 79.
She and Herb were married for 57 years. In addition to Herb and Lee, she also is survived by daughter, Lynn Buckley, daughter-in-law Heather Krombholz, son-in-law Tim Buckley, and grandchildren Kirtley and Isabelle Krombholz. She also is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Maretta Creveling, a sister, Frances “Boo” Kay, and was predeceased by another brother, Donald “Mac” Creveling.
She was a passionate lover of antique dolls, authoring seven books on antique German dolls and acting as a national judge of antique dolls. She also was an avid gardener and active in the Cincinnati Woman’s Club, Indian Hill Women’s Club, Indian Hill Historical Society, Delta Delta Delta Alumna, and Concours D’Elegance Committee. Memorials may be made to The Indian Hill Historical Society, Cincinnati Woman’s Club Operating Endowment Fund, or the Cincinnati Concours Foundation.
