Four Nabbed In Michigan Rolex Heists

Philadelphia, PA—Four men from Philadelphia have been indicted in conjunction with two armed robberies in Michigan last spring, in which $140 million worth of Rolex watches were stolen.

The heists occurred April 22 at Medawar Jewelers near Grand Rapids, and Tapper’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry in West Bloomfield. At both stores, the thieves brandished weapons and forced both staff and customers to the floor. Cases were smashed at Medawar Jewelers but the owner shot one of the thieves and no merchandise was taken. Later that day, they attacked Tapper’s, where they forced an employee to open a showcase and made off with approximately 130 Rolex watches worth $1.4 million. Security footage shows the same gang committing both crimes.

DNA evidence linked 42-year-old Nathaniel Pembrook to the heists. He was shot in the arm at Medawar Jewelers, and DNA was obtained from his blood trail. Also indicted were 45-year-old David Briley, 35-year-old Shaheed Calhoun, and 40-year-old Orlando Johnson, on charges that include robbery and weapons offenses.
