Boise, ID—R. Grey Gallery has turned 30. Over three decades, what began as a small quaint custom jewelry and repair shop has grown into a nationally recognized art gallery (exterior, left) that was named one of “America's Coolest Stores” by InStore magazine. R. Grey Gallery features the works of more than 125 artisans of handcrafted furniture, glass, and fine jewelry, including its own in-house jewelry line, REALSTEEL.

Jewelry designer and gallery co-owner Robert Grey Kaylor won JA’s  Mort Abelson New Designer of the Year award for REALSTEEL at the JA Show in New York in 2011, and his jewelry has been featured in national jewelry articles and jewelry publications for many years. In addition to winning the Abelson award, the gallery won the "Small Cool" division of InStore’s contest in 2012. Kaylor also has been named among the top ten designer retailers in the nation by JCK for three years running.

“We were excited to celebrate our thirty years in the community with our customers and artists that have made our success possible,” said Barbara Kaylor, Robert Grey Kaylor’s wife and co-owner of R. Grey Gallery.

To celebrate, R. Grey invited customers and artists to the gallery for a night of food, live music, and giveaways. The B-Town Bistro food truck provided a number of appetizers (grilled cheese crostini was the hit of the night). A local bakery, Le Bisou, and cake artisan Sandy Gebhards provided outstanding desserts and a cake with thirty gemstones for thirty years. Local musician Emily Tipton performed and jewelry artisan Aaron Henry and his father, Conrad, came from California to celebrate and showcase their work.

Now two generations of Kaylors—Robert and Barbara along with their daughter, Lauren—run the business on the foundation of the relationships they have built over the last 30 years.

“We have been incredibly fortunate to not only grow within an amazing community but to also be a part of customers’ special milestones for generations of families. We look forward to continuing to serve our valued customers for many years to come,” commented Robert Kaylor.
