Retail News: Texas Jeweler Green Bull Is Closing August 22, 2018 (0 comments)
Boerne, TX—The Green Bull Fine Jewellery Couture will close its doors for good following a brief going-out-of-business sale starting Thursday. The store is renowned for both its award-winning custom designs, as well as a wide selection of coveted luxury jewelry brands.
In addition to its custom jewelry, The Green Bull has received many other awards through the years. It has been the “Best Jeweler in Kendall County” for 20 consecutive years; recognized by Fodor’s Travel as the only jeweler in the Texas Hill Country to make its “Favorite Shopping” list; and named by InStore magazine as one of America’s Coolest Stores. The store is housed in a renovated former livery stable dating back to 1898.
“We are so grateful for the accolades,” said Jerry Gowen, designer and owner. “But unfortunately our sales have dropped dramatically over the past three years. The jewelry that we manufacture here, the custom design and repairs have kept us busy. However, our other jewelry sales have almost disappeared. This is an incredibly sad time for me, my wife Kathryn, our daughter Emma, our son Sandis, and our staff.
“I have the same passion for this store today as I did on the day we opened it. But difficult times call for difficult decisions, and this was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make. Our only choice is to close our doors in Boerne forever.”
The historic 110-year-old building that houses the store will be sold as well.
“My family and I would like to thank all of our friends in Boerne who relied on us for their jewelry needs for the past two decades,” continued Gowen. “We will dearly miss you.”
The Green Bull's homepage announces a total liquidation.
