The project involves a partnership with the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM). A post by Nouveau Réveil citing ArcInfo states that Rolex and CSEM have already presented advances in rubidium-based atomic clocks at the Swiss Quantum Days in Arosa. CSEM researcher Victor Helson outlined progress in this technology, supported by Rolex.

Optical atomic clocks are not designed for wristwatches, but rather for applications such as satellite positioning systems (GPS), telecommunications network synchronization, and time standards. As per the report, the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) may adopt these clocks to enhance the national timekeeping system and collaborate with the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) for Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

Rolex Quantum SA will operate from the Neuchâtel Observatory, a site with a history in precision timekeeping.
