Rolex Introduces Land-Dweller Featuring Caliber 7135 and New Dynapulse Escapement April 08, 2025 (0 comments)

New York, NY--Rolex has launched the Land-Dweller, a new integrated bracelet model featuring Caliber 7135, the brand's first mechanical high-frequency movement. The watch also introduces the Dynapulse escapement, a patented indirect impulse system using dual silicon escape wheels.

According to Hodinkee, the Caliber 7135 operates at 5 Hz (36,000 vph) and departs from Rolex's previous Chronergy escapement. The movement includes a Syloxi silicon hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers. It has 39 jewels, a 66-hour power reserve, and meets the Superlative Chronometer standard.
The Land-Dweller case measures 36mm or 40mm in diameter and 9.8mm in thickness, which is thinner than a standard Datejust. The case design is derived from Rolex's 1970s ref. 1530 and Oysterquartz models. According to the report, the Flat Jubilee bracelet includes a Crownclasp, a feature not available on Datejust 36 or 41 since 2018.
Dial features include a honeycomb texture, applied cardinal numerals similar to those used in the Explorer line, and a Cyclops date magnifier. The movement is displayed on an exhibition case back.
The Dynapulse escapement uses deep reactive-ion-etched silicon components. According to the report, its architecture involves two planar escape wheels that lock together to reduce shock vulnerability and eliminate the need for lubrication. Only one of the wheels provides an impulse per half oscillation.
The movement uses silicon for the lever, escape wheels, and mobile blocking element. Earlier direct impulse escapements influence the escapement's design but differ in implementation and materials. Rolex began exploring silicon use in the 1990s and introduced its Syloxi hairspring in 2014.
Per Hodinkee, 32 patents are linked to the Land-Dweller, including 18 model-specific ones and 16 for the Caliber 7135. Rolex intends to expand the use of the Dynapulse escapement in future movements under the 7100 series.
The model lineup includes Oystersteel and white gold, Everose gold, and platinum variants, with or without diamond-set bezels. Retail pricing for the steel version (ref. 127334) is CHF 14,200.
According to Hodinkee, the Land-Dweller trademark was filed in July 2023, and its case shape follows earlier integrated-bracelet Rolex models associated with new technology releases.
