New York, NY--Saks Global cut 90 jobs this week in another round of layoffs for the luxury department store chain, Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) reports.

The job cuts included the elimination of the merchandising coordinator position, as Saks Global continues to blend the merchandising systems of Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus into an integrated system, WWD reports.

Also eliminated were the digital beauty specialists at Neiman Marcus, who worked with specific beauty brands and sold to customers, WWD reports. Saks Fifth Avenue eliminated its group of digital beauty specialists in 2023.

The 90 layoffs are believed to represent fewer than 3 percent of the Saks Global corporate population, and 0.5 percent of the total Saks Global headcount, WWD reports.

It’s at least the third round of layoffs for the merged luxury department store chain, WWD reports.

The headcount reduction is part of Saks Global’s strategy to reduce annual costs by $600 million within the next few years and streamline operations, WWD reports, adding that the company is more leveraged with debt since its $2.7 billion acquisition of the Neiman Marcus Group, which closed last December. To buy Neiman’s, Saks took on $2.2 billion in debt from bondholders to finance the deal.

The full WWD report is behind a firewall.
