Shulan’s Of Akron Celebrates 100 Years In Business October 04, 2021 (0 comments)
Fairlawn, OH—Congratulations are in order for Shulan’s Jewelers, which is celebrating its centenary anniversary this year and was lauded in a profile article on Akron.com.
In 1921, Alex Shulan opened the first Shulan’s store, located in downtown Akron. As America migrated to the suburbs in the post-WWII years, his son, Jay, built the first jewelry store in a strip center in Ohio in 1954. Third-generation John, Jay Shulan’s son, built a new store (image) in Fairlawn, OH in August 2019, says the article. His son, also named Jay, is the fourth generation working in the family business.
Shulans is one of the few remaining fine jewelers in the country to offer a robust selection of dinnerware, flatware, home accessories, and many more luxury gift and décor items. Offerings include accent furniture (by artisan Michael Aram), fine soaps (by Mottahedeh), perfume bottles (by Orrefors and Daum), fine pens, lamps (Herend, Iitala and more), and so forth. The jeweler also offers corporate gifts and a bridal registry.

“We are fortunate to deal with such beautiful things,” John Shulan said in the Akron.com article. “People trust us with the most important purchase of their life.” He also observed a tremendous uptick in watch sales during the pandemic. The store offers mid-level brands like Bulova, Tissot, and Longines.
The business celebrated its 100-year anniversary with a four-day promotion at the end of September. Customers were treated to refreshments and could enter a drawing to win one of 100 prizes. Read more here.
