The jeweler advises that pearls should be the last accessory worn when getting ready. According to the guidance, chemicals found in perfumes, cosmetics, and hairsprays can damage a pearl's surface luster. After wearing, pearls should be gently wiped with a slightly damp cloth to remove oils and residue.

The post notes that pearls should never be cleaned with steam, ultrasonic machines, or jewelry polish, as these methods can damage the nacre. Pearls should also be stored separately from other jewelry to prevent scratches from gemstones or metal surfaces.

Spicer Greene recommends restringing pearl strands approximately once a year if worn frequently. It highlights that silk thread can stretch or discolor with regular use, which can compromise both the appearance and security of the strand.
