Authorities identified the suspect as Marcu Rostas, who was detained while traveling with his family. Investigators recovered more than $400,000 in stolen jewelry, some of it hidden inside a stuffed animal. Rostas also allegedly carried multiple fake IDs and is in the U.S. illegally, deputies said.

The theft occurred at Yameron Jewelry in the Waterside Shops in Collier County. Investigators said Rostas later stole a $15,000 necklace in Martin County. A jeweler who dealt with him described his behavior as "very handsy with the jewelry," per the report.

Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said deputies noticed the suspect's family members wearing stolen pieces, including a $40,000 Rolex on a 10-year-old boy's wrist. Rostas was taken into custody following coordination between Collier and Martin County sheriff's offices.

According to the report, Rostas is wanted in multiple states. He is being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and is expected to be extradited to Collier County to face charges.
