Columbia, SC--Sylvan's Jewelers, at 1500 Main St. in Columbia since 1905, will relocate this fall to 740 Gervais St. in the Vista, The State reported. The new site, at Gervais and Gadsden streets, was formerly the South Carolina Railroad Depot and later Wet Willie's, which closed in 2023.

According to the report, the move will provide more space for expanded jewelry offerings, including a larger Rolex selection. The Vista property was leased to Sylvan's by the Arnold Companies, with Colliers South Carolina representing the landlord.

Founded in 1897 by Gus and Joe Sylvan, the store was acquired by Schiffman's Jewelers in 1985. Its four-sided clock at Main and Hampton streets will remain in place after the move.

Colliers' Rox Pollard said the relocation will allow Sylvan's to increase its inventory for customers in the Midlands while preserving a historic property.
