The Personal (Read: Dainty) Jewelry Trend |  May 18, 2016 (0 comments)

Merrick, NY—You read it here first: very dainty, delicate jewelry is back in vogue. Whether it’s budget-friendly engagement rings or the rise of super-affordable fashion-meets-fine brands like Dogeared, tiny, subtle jewelry is the counter-trend to statement jewelry. The nice thing about tiny jewelry is its layerability—a lot of small adds up to something big but not overpowering.

But what’s driving the appeal for many women is the personal jewelry trend—delicate jewelry with meaning, as described in a recent post on About.com’s style section. One of the dozen or so pieces highlighted on About.com was this $125 sterling silver charm from A. Jaffe, left, that puts a personalized “you are here” diamond in a map of anywhere you choose. More styles on A. Jaffe’s website include hearts, dog tags, and diamond borders.

Another piece on About.com, from Lulu Frost, was dubbed a “secret code ring,” and uses gemstones set in sterling silver or 14k or 18k gold to correspond by name with the letters of the alphabet (below). But to us, it looks an awful lot like a traditional mother’s ring and just cries out to be stacked with something else.

Other ideas include the timeless locket (About.com featured this heart from Tiffany & Co.) and other engraved pieces.
