New York, NY--Several U.S. jewelers are offering customers the full purchase price of natural diamonds toward future upgrades, citing confidence in diamonds' enduring value, according to Only Natural Diamonds.

Tommy Aucoin Jr. of Aucoin Hart in Metairie, Louisiana, said the practice provides customers with peace of mind in their purchase. "They can wear that ring or earrings every day for 10 years, and come back, no questions asked, and get the price paid for another diamond," he said.
At Kwiat in New York and Las Vegas, CEO Greg Kwiat said the policy reflects their belief in diamonds retaining value: "We would only sell a diamond that we would be pleased to see again in our inventory in the future."
Lux Bond & Green, with stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts, offers full purchase value for natural diamond solitaires and stud earrings bought at their store as trade-ins, and credits diamonds bought elsewhere toward upgrades. Owner John Green said many clients upgrade as their careers and budgets grow, noting that "clients often come back again and again to upgrade their natural diamond stud earrings."
Aucoin Hart also credits the full purchase price for diamonds bought there, or the current market value for diamonds purchased elsewhere. Aucoin shared an example of a couple who upgraded their engagement ring diamond on their 10th, 20th, and 30th anniversaries.
Hamilton Jewelers, with locations in New Jersey and Palm Beach, offers full-value trade-ins for natural diamond center stones and stud earrings purchased at their stores. Executive Vice President Anne Russell said customers often upgrade as their lifestyles change. "Over time, tastes evolve as do lifestyles, and sometimes you just realize you want something different," Russell noted, as per the article.
At Kwiat, one client returned after 25 years of marriage to upgrade a 1-carat engagement ring purchased when they were young and starting out. "Twenty-five years later, they've had successful careers and a growing family, and he wanted to buy her the bigger ring she never had," said Greg Kwiat.
