Two Thieves Steal $100,000 in Jewels from Southern California Store October 15, 2024 (0 comments)
Orange County, CA--In what appears to be a distraction theft, a man and woman stole more than $100,000 worth of rings and other items from an Orange County jewelry store, according to KTLA5 News.
The theft happened on Sept. 17, when the couple walked into OC Diamond Estate Jewelry on Glassell Street and asked owner Samy Soliman to see some of his more expensive pieces. Soliman told the station that he thought they were like normal customers, “They were well-dressed, and they really have expensive jewelry on them,” he recounted to KTLA’s Chip Yost.

Soliman said he got some boxes of the more expensive jewelry that he thought might interest them.
Then Soliman answered the phone and left the boxes. On a store surveillance video, you can the woman remove one of the boxes and give it to the man who stuck it in his pants and pulled over his T-shirt.
When Soliman finished off the phone, the woman engaged him in conversation while the man walked out.
The surveillance video clearly shows the two persons. Soliman placed the video on the store’s Instagram account.
