‘Watch Oscars’ Set For November October 03, 2010 (0 comments)
Geneva, Switzerland--The Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix award will be held November 18 at the Grand Theatre of Geneva, Switzerland. The award, in its 10th year, is free and open to all watch brands. This year’s competition drew 300 entries, which were narrowed down these to 10 finalists in seven categories: men’s watch, women’s watch, design watch, jewelry watch, complicated watch, sports watch, and a special “La Petite Aiguille” prize to a watch whose retail prices is less than CHF 5,000.
There also will be four other awards: a public prize, awarded by visitors to the exhibition in Geneva, and Internet users choosing their favorite watch, a best watchmaker prize awarded to the watchmaker whose work has marked the world of watchmaking this year, a special jury prize which may go to a watch, a brand, a personality, an innovation, or any other major stakeholder in the world of watchmaking, and, finally, the grand prize, “L’Aiguille d’Or,” the most prestigious prize, awarded to the best watch overall, all categories included.
The 70 finalists are part of a traveling exhibition, which will visit Singapore, Zurich, Geneva, and Paris.
