Wheat Ridge, CO--A second arrest has been made in the Nov. 29, 2023, murder of Peter Arguello, owner of Peter Damian Fine Jewelry and Antiques shop in the Denver suburb of Wheat Ridge, police announced on social media Thursday.

Arguello was fatally shot during a robbery attempt at his business on the 7200 block of W 38th Ave., the Wheat Ridge Police Department reported on an Instagram post.

McCormack has been charged with second-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery, second-degree motor vehicle theft and a crime of violence sentence enhancer.

The first suspect in the case, Charles Shay, is an alleged accomplice of McCormack, police said. Shay has been in custody since Dec. 27, 2023, on charges related to burglarizing Arguello's business on the day after Christmas. Shay was charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder on January 18.

According to previous reports, surveillance video shows a man tried to use flex cuffs on Arguello, but Arguello resisted, and the man shot him. The shooter and another person reportedly fled the scene by the back door of the store and fled in a red pickup truck, according to witnesses. A stolen red Chevrolet Silverado connected to the suspects was found burned and heavily damaged two days later.
