Your Favorite Brands At The Oscars: Who Wore What On Jewelry’s Biggest NightMarch 05, 2014 (0 comments)
|Hollywood, CA—Look no farther than the 86th Annual Academy Awards to see what’s trending in fine jewelry as well as formalwear and, of course, film. While few women will be as bedecked in diamonds and gems as those who walked the ultimate red carpet on Sunday, the trends that emerge during Oscar night impact the kinds of jewelry your customers wear every day. And with so many well-known designers and brands represented at the Oscars, it’s highly likely some of these same names are already in your showcases.
Two big trends The Centurion spotted were a noticeable increase in big on-the-ear earrings and big colored gemstone earrings, especially green ones. Look at the bobs worn by E!’s Alicia Quarles as she hosted the network’s red carpet preview show (18k yellow gold with diamonds and uvarovite garnet by Kara Ross), and by style commentator Laura Brown of Harpers Bazaar magazine. But other gems also made a statement, not least of which were Cate Blanchett’s dazzling opal earrings from Chopard (top of page), which reflected her Aussie pride and were as memorable as her acceptance speech emphasizing that women in film are not a niche market.

The neat on-ear diamond clips worn by the likes of Camilla Alves, Lupita Nyong’o (Fred Leighton’s 18k yellow gold and rose-cut diamond spiked crescent earrings), and E!’s Catt Sandler make buttons suddenly feel totally right again. Sandra Bullock and Maria Menounos went for diamonds climbing up the ear, but studs and smaller buttons also work, as sported by the likes of Charlize Theron and Emma Watson.

We also saw a return to necklaces after years of bare-necked stars, and of course statement rings and diamond-bedecked wrists are always de rigueur for the Oscars. But while one or two stars went all out, the prevailing rule was to adorn three out of four: make a statement on your ears, wrist, and fingers, or on your neck, wrist and fingers, but leave something unadorned.
Here are jewelry names you know on stars you love:
Laura Dern wore Brumani diamond rings, and Ellie Kemper wore Brumani diamond earrings, diamond bracelet, and diamond ring at the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party hosted by Graydon Carter.
