JCK 2013 Platinum Innovation Award Winners Announced
Las Vegas, NV—Platinum Guild International USA (PGI-USA) announced the winners of the fourth annual JCK 2013 Platinum Innovation Awards during the recent JCK Show in Las Vegas.
Winners were chosen in seven different design categories. An “Editors’ Choice” and “Buyers’ Choice” were chosen in each design category, as well as one overall “Best in Show” Award, which was selected as a culmination of all votes. Sylvie Collection was chosen as the “Best in Show.”
The winners in each category, shown with retail prices, are:
- Platinum Engagement Ring: Editors’ Choice, Gabriel & Co. platinum Victorian Halo Engagement Ring, $2,055; Buyers’ Choice, Designs by Vatche platinum and diamond engagement ring, $3,200.
- Entry Platinum Engagement Ring (semi-mounts under $2,500 retail): Editors’ Choice, Mercury Ring “Halo Twist” platinum and diamond engagement ring $2,500; Buyers’ Choice, Sylvie Collection platinum and diamond floral halo engagement ring, $2,170.

- Platinum Wedding Band: Editors’ Choice, Parade Designs platinum milligrain-etched art deco inspired wedding band with marquise-shaped diamonds, $5,225; Buyers’ Choice, Dora International Spartan Collection platinum men’s band with laser-edge designs, $3,289.
- Platinum Men’s Jewelry: Editors’ Choice, Tacori platinum men’s band with milligrain details, $2,540; Buyers’ Choice, Novell platinum cufflinks, $3,144.
- Entry Platinum Fashion Jewelry (under $3,500 retail): Editors’ Choice, Erik Stewart platinum and colored diamond Hollein earrings, $3,500; Buyers’ Choice, Harout R. platinum and diamond “Cupcake” earrings, $1,859.
- Platinum Red Carpet Jewelry: Editors’ Choice: Uni-Design Jewellry “Dew Drops” platinum and diamond ring; Buyers’ Choice, Lazare Kaplan “110th Anniversary” platinum and diamond necklace, $883,120.
- Platinum and Colored Gemstone Jewelry: Editors’ Choice, Simon G platinum earring with round white diamonds and emerald cut green tourmaline (shown top of page); Buyers’ Choice, Oscar Heyman platinum, colored diamond, and unheated colored sapphire necklace, $300,000 (below).
2013’s Couture Design Awards Announced: Jewelry, Watches and Human Spirit Award Honored
Las Vegas, NV—The finalists and winners of the 2013 Couture Design Awards were announced last week to a crowd of nearly 1,000 designers, retailers, and editors. Awards were presented in 11 categories of jewelry and four categories of watches were awarded, as well as the Couture Human Spirit Award, presented this year to David Yurman, whose mentorship and generosity of spirit continue to benefit the watch and jewelry industry.
“I can’t accept this award by myself,” David said from the stage before calling up his wife Sybil. “Sybil, my love, my muse.”
Tomasz Donocik, part of Stephen Webster’s “Rock Vault” showing at the show, won for both the Diamonds above $20,000 as well as the Debuting at Couture categories. He said, “Without Stephen Webster and the team over there, I would not be here.”
Finalists and nominees for the Couture 2013 Design Awards are:
- Bridal: winner, Heather Moore; first runner up, Pamela Froman; second runner up, Pinar Oner Design Atelier.
Heather Moore's concave diamond and gold ring won the Couture Design Award in the Bridal category.
- Colored Gemstone Above $20,000: winner, Arunashi (below); first runner up, Rodney Rayner; second runner up, Caspita.
- Colored Gemstone Below $20,000: winner, Lauren Harper; first runner up, K. Brunini; second runner up, Federica Rettore.
- Diamond Above $20,000: winner, Tomasz Donocik; first runner up, Shaun Leane; second runner up, Nam Cho.
- Diamond Below $20,000: winner, Colette Jewelry; first runner up, Mizuki; second runner up, Moritz Glik.
- Gold: winner, Paolo Costagli; first runner up, Mattioli; second runner up, Mary Esses.
- Pearl: winner, Mikimoto; first runner up, Paula Crevoshay; second runner up, Gellner.
- Platinum: winner, Schaffrath; first runner up, Henrich & Denzel; second runner up, Steven Kretchmer (below)
- Silver: winner, Atelier Minyon; first runner up, Atelier Zobel; second runner up, Emanuela Duca.
- Debuting at Couture: winner, Tomasz Donocik; first runner up, Atelier Minyon; second runner up, Nikos Koulis.
- People’s Choice: winner, Atelier Minyon; first runner up, Victor Velyan and Arunashi (tied).
