We are seeking a Watch Manager, whose responsibility will be to manage our extensive watch line collections and assist with overall policies and processes for the sale of watches at Reis-Nichols. The Watch Manager must have the confidence and the ability to develop long term client relationships as well as the ability to sell luxury timepieces to our existing watch collecting clients, and newly acquired clients. Expectation is to achieve a minimum of $1,000,000 in personal sales during the first year; 30-40% of watch sales will be done through proactive contact of existing clients. Must follow standards of service including developing first time customers into new clients, client follow up including sending thank you notes, and encouraging clients to complete and submit positive reviews on the internet (Google, Yelp, Facebook). Additional responsibilities include collaborating/partnering with the Director of Stores (DS) and Director of Merchandising (DM) to help to determine the lines to be sold, develop relationships with watch vendors, set inventory levels, set pricing, train sales associates in watch knowledge and sales, etc. The remainder of time will be on the sales floor.
Performance will be evaluated based on meeting specific goals, establishing, and maintaining a positive relationship with watch customers, and working in partnership with the directors and other store personnel.
Goals: Achieves individual sales goals and assists others with achieving sales goals. Assists with closing of sales and promotes turnover as a value-added service to the customer. Responsible for supporting the achievement of watch sales objectives, optimal gross margin dollars and sell through. Partnering with DS and DM, this position is responsible for following a stock and sales plan that includes inventory levels and sales objectives for both stores. Additionally, responsible for helping to turn aged inventory and executing transfers between stores as needed.
Industry and Product Knowledge: Develops a thorough knowledge and understanding of the watch industry and the Reis-Nichols watch business, including local, regional, and national trends. Develops knowledge of all watch lines, their history, and all product segments of each watch line, including their specific functions, prices, and unique characteristics, and how brands relate to each other. Develops proficiency in using watch catalogs.
Operations: Attends both domestic and international trade shows. All other duties, as assigned.
Sales: Achieves individual sales of $1,000,000 in first year. Develops strong lifetime sales relationships with clients. Partners with DS and DM to ensure corporate watch sales goals are met. Ensures individual sales goals (watches and jewelry) are met.
Information Resource: Attends, develops, and supports scheduled training sessions for sales staff and is conversant with all sales representatives about watch lines carried by Reis-Nichols. Communicates important and pertinent watch information to sales staff. Assists other sales associates in watch sale transactions as needed, including helping to close watch sales.
Inventory: Assists with and/or performs the following responsibilities: maintenance of all watch boxes, keeping fixtures organized, filing guarantees by brand, keeping all watch catalogs organized and properly displayed on the sales floor. Tracks purchase orders and important special orders. Tracks inventory levels and maintains current inventory, especially observation of battery life on quartz watches and watches that may be case damaged (This must be done in cooperation with the watch shop), and maintaining the required level of boxes and all related watch materials. Monitors back stock and Greenwood inventory to fill on-floor needs.
Merchandise: Advise and/or performs the necessary merchandising of watches, maintenance of displays and under stock, and regular housekeeping of the watch department. Works with DS and DM in helping plan and execute special events such as the Annual Watch Event and off-site special activities where necessary.
Customer Relationships: Develops strong customer relationships and recognizes important watch customers by sight and by name to help provide them with high level of service, including collectors and multi-watch buyers. Develops ability to handle difficult customer situations, including repair issues, pricing, and unhappy customers.
Vendor Relationships: Develops strong vendor relationships. Assists in setting up vendor training.
Employee Relationships: Develops and maintains an active and cooperative working relationship with DM and Watch Shop personnel. Works with all other sales associates in their development of watch knowledge and sales techniques. Work with Merchandising group on orders, stocking, and physical counts.
