BRAND NEWS: CARELLE PENDANT HONORS BROOKE MCGRATH; FREE IMAGINE IPAD; HUBLOT TEAMS WITH MAN UNITED April 20, 2011 (0 comments)
New York, NY—Carelle introduces the “Brooke Leaf” pendant in celebration of the life of Brooke Tivol McGrath, who died suddenly in January of a rare and virulent blood infection. She was 28 years old.
The 18K rose gold pendant, shown here, has a diamond pave leaf design in a 25mm round rose de france disk. The curved outline of a leaf gently supports the translucent stone, symbolizing the delicate balance of life. McGrath wore a pair of Carelle rose de france and rose gold earrings everyday.
McGrath joined Carelle in 2007 and helped launch a multiplatform marketing campaign. She was a fourth generation member of the jewelry industry, having served on both sides of the counter. Prior to joining Carelle, she worked at Fabrikant and at her family’s renowned retail stores in Kansas City, MO.
Carelle is partnering with the Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA) to establish a scholarship in McGrath’s memory. Says a company statement, “We miss Brooke dearly, and hope to inspire female jewelers to find the passion and clarity in their career path that Brooke possessed. Proceeds from the Brooke Leaf Collection will fund this scholarship.”
The collection is comprised of several pieces each with an interpretation of Carelle’s leaf motif. The rose de france and diamond pendant is the anchor of the collection. McGrath believed the leaf symbol was the touchstone of the Carelle brand, which now will honor her memory with these pieces.

Hong Kong—The Manchester United Legends recently completed a charity tour of Asia, sponsored by Swiss watchmaker Hublot.
At each stop—Bangkok, Thailand, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Hong Kong—the Legends attended a charity dinner to support the pan-Asian UNICEF, organized by UNICEF and the Manchester United Foundation. All proceeds went to UNICEF projects protecting at-risk young populations, including children, from the threat of HIV and AIDS.
For the tour, Hublot designed and created three unique watches with the exclusive Red Devil emblem on the dial and an engraving on the back detailing each event date and location. The watches were put up for auction at the dinners to raise funds for UNICEF and the Manchester United Foundation.
The relationship between Manchester United and Hublot began in 2008 when the brand became the official timekeeper and watch of the club. To celebrate this partnership, Hublot designed the Red Devil Bang. Since then, they have worked closely together throughout the world to raise awareness of the Manchester United Foundation, which aims to educate, motivate, and inspire young people to build a better life for themselves and their communities.
In Hong Kong, a private party was held prior to the dinner at the Hublot boutique there. Manchester United Legends Bryan Robson and Andrew Cole, two of the greatest names in English football (soccer), were there, along with 50 VIP guests invited by Hublot and the Manchester United Hong Kong Fan Club. During the event, the two players shared their views on the topic of “love”—a theme of the charity—and, of course, their love of football and Manchester United. They also shared their personal experiences of Hublot and signed a tailor-made Manchester United jersey emblazoned with “Hublot”and the number “8”on the back. It now is on display at the Hublot boutique.
