12 Great Pinterest Tips For Prestige JewelersApril 02, 2014 (0 comments)
|Merrick, NY—The very best thing about Pinterest is that it's a visual medium, and for jewelers, one good visual can save at least a thousand words. Everyone knows that great photos are a better sales tool than endless words, and when your customers are on Pinterest, that's a good reason for your store and your brand, to have a presence there.
Not sure how to make the best use of Pinterest? Perhaps you've already uploaded some inventory photos but don't know where to turn next, or how it can best help your advertising, marketing, and social media plans. Read on for help.
Here are some Pinterest "rules" for the best results:
1. Original photos vs. re-pins. As a rule, it’s better to use your own images than to just re-pin others’ photos, but of course there are exceptions to every rule and there are instances where it’s not only appropriate to re-pin, but better. These include times when you're doing a board such as "Local Businesses to Help With Your Wedding" or something similar that's not jewelry related but would help your customers round out their wedding experience. Be sure and include a few posts of your own with wedding bands, engagement rings, bridal party gifts, and so forth. Another time when it’s good to re-pin is when you’ve been photographed at a community event and someone else shares the photos. That reinforces your ties to the community. And if a designer you carry does something notable, re-pin that photo but add one of your own showing which pieces of the designer’s line you carry.
By using your own images and not re-pinning except in specific cases, all roads lead back to your business and your store's website. After all, connecting with your customers and leading them back to you is really the whole point.
2. Use good images. Even better if they are great images. Where can you find those? For product shots, ask your vendors for images. For in-store use, remember that few people have the talent to 'snap' good enough photos with their iPhone then upload them. If you're one of those people, great. If not, invest in a good camera or a good photographer. This may take an extra step but it will be worth it.
3. Have at least three complete boards. In this case, 'complete' means to have them chock full of pins, not just one or two. Fill 'em up!
If you follow these steps, you'll have a great start and it will be easier for you or your staff to keep adding in that same way, keeping your account fresh for.
Let's take a look at a few boards that are both informative and helpful, not to mention creative. Those boards, created by real prestige jewelers, offer you a glimpse at what's possible on Pinterest. Following that is a robust list of ideas for boards. Customize one or all for your store, your brand.
And don't forget, again, the cardinal rule: use your own photos where possible and create boards so that all pins lead back to your brand.
