Lighthouse Point, FL—This year marks the 25th anniversary of Dunn's Run, a fun-filled event held every year on the first Sunday of October. The run, conducted along the ocean in Deerfield Beach, FL, annually benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County (BGCBC), and has raised more than $3.5 million for the organization over the years.

This year’s run, themed “Run for Jim” is especially bittersweet, as it will be dedicated to the late Jim Dunn of J.R. Dunn Jewelers, who founded the event 25 years ago to give back to the local community.

Jim and Ann Marie Dunn founded J.R. Dunn Jewelers in 1969. Today, the store is co-owned by their son, vice president Sean Dunn, and is one of South Florida’s premier luxury jewelers offering brands such as Rolex, Breitling, John Hardy, Roberto Coin, Marco Bicego, and fine diamonds and timepieces. J.R. Dunn also is one of the first luxury jewelers in the industry to embrace e-commerce and build a successful omni-channel retail business.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County was a cause near and dear to the late Dunn’s heart. The organization assists youth ages six to 18, and helps them acquire both skills and values during their critical period of development. The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County is to assure and to enhance the quality of life for youth as participating members of a diverse urban society. Services and programs provided focus on three main core areas: academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles.

Since its inception, the Dunn’s Run has become one of the largest races in the Deerfield Beach area, bringing together everyone from competitive runners, companies, to families with young children. The 25th Annual Dunn's Run will take place on Sunday, October 3rd at 7 a.m. along Route A1A at Deerfield Beach. Participants can sign up for a five mile run, a5K run or walk, or kid's fun run. Participants also can compete virtually by walking or running in their own neighborhoods.
