83-Year-Old Man Charged with Murder After Fatal Daytona Beach Store Shooting August 15, 2024 (0 comments)

Daytona Beach, FL--An 83-year-old man from Central Florida has been indicted on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting at a jewelry store in Daytona Beach. The incident occurred on July 19, 2024, at a West International Speedway Boulevard store.

A report in West Orlando News stated that according to the indictment, the defendant, John Craiger, shot the store owner during an argument that escalated to violence.

The victim's son reportedly returned fire in defense, prompting Craiger to shoot back. The store owner later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The report noted that Craiger, who appeared in a wheelchair in the Volusia County courtroom, now faces serious charges as the case proceeds.

The Daytona Beach Police Department conducted the investigation that led to his indictment.
