Sotheby's auction house thinks it means a lot. Sotheby's offers a weekly watch auction out of New York, Hong Kong, Geneva and London featuring at this writing among other items a Rolex Daytona expected to auction for $15,000-$20,000 with a current bid of $15,000; a Patek Philippe minute repeating tourbillon expected to auction for beteen 2.4-4 Million Hong Kong Dollars (US $309,000-$516,100); a Rolex Paul Newman Daytona estimated to auction for CHF 150,000-200,000, with a starting bid of CHF 140,000 (USD $147,697), and a Jaeger-Lecoultre Reversonpink gold, dual-time-zone model expected to auction for 100,000-120,000 Hong Kong Dollars (USD $12,903-$15,483).
Says the Sotheby's web site: "Watches Weekly is an ongoing series of seven-day auctions that present watch lovers with opportunities to sell and buy some of the most sought-after vintage and contemporary timepieces on the market. The watches for each auction are presented online and when the auction begins the lots close independently at one-minute intervals with closure times subject to change. The auctions take place in New York on Tuesdays; Hong Kong on Wednesdays; Geneva on Thursdays and London on Froidays. They all start at 10:30 AM local time.
