Berkeley, CA--A Berkeley jewelry store experienced an armed robbery on July 6, with the culprits making off with nearly $500,000 in merchandise, according to local police and as highlighted by a report in CBS News.

The report stated that at approximately 2 p.m., a group of seven to eight individuals armed with guns and sledgehammers stormed into Bombay Jewelry Company at 1042 University Avenue.

The robbers used sledgehammers to smash display cases and brandished firearms to intimidate staff and customers.

Before fleeing the scene, they reportedly seized around half a million dollars worth of assorted jewelry. The investigation is ongoing.
