Paris, France--French crystal and fine jewelry house Baccarat was one of a handful of jewelers who recently designed special-edition bottles for various luxury liquors.

Baccarat created a a special decanter (left) for a limited edition cognac “Black Pearl Louis XIII” from Rémy Martin that exists in only 786 bottles and each bottle comes for a price of 10,000 Euros (about $15,000).

The new decanter, hand-crafted in black crystal by Baccarat, required more than 50 operations by some 20 artisans and comes encased in a coffret forged in metal.

Adding to the luster of the crystal, the coffret features mirrors and internal lighting and a metal clasp to hold the decanter in place.

In addition, jewelry designer and single-malt connoisseur Maeve Gillies of Maevona New York joined in this special design challenge.

A bottle of rare Highland Park single-malt Scotch whisky clad in Gillies’s handiwork (right) will set you back a mere 10,500 Pounds (approx. $16, 470) and is available exclusively at Harrod’s in London through the end of October.

Other design houses creating containers for luxury libations (see them all here) include Lalique, and Jose Davalos, while Diva triple-distilled premium vodka, produced by Blackwood Distillers of Scotland, was filtered through a sand made of crushed gemstones and diamonds.

Bottles of Diva also contain bits of gold, diamonds, and gems, along with a variety of Swarovski crystals.

Says Gillies of the whisky inside her sterling-clad bottle, “It’s pretty insanely tasty. Nectar of the gods just about describes it!”
