|Los Angeles, CA—As the winter awards season wraps, all eyes were on Hollywood Sunday night. Not only were the 85th Academy Awards the movie industry’s biggest night, it’s also one of jewelry’s biggest nights. With lots of celebrities wearing lots of jewelry, it’s inevitable that lots of trends will be incubated, such as the “backlace,” the most talked-about jewelry trend of the evening, as well as lots of black—as in blackened metals and black gems. Here’s a capsule look at who wore what:
Platinum was the metal of choice for many stars going to both the Academy Awards and all the related after-parties. Anne Hathaway kicked off the “backlace” trend with a platinum “Corsage” necklace by Tiffany & Co. worn down her back. She also wore Tiffany’s platinum and diamond stud earrings, and “Fringe” and “Paisley” bracelets.
Even though only two celebrities wore necklaces backwards, it set all the trend-spotters' tongues wagging. Left, Jennifer Lawrence, and right, Anne Hathaway.
