Frederique Constant And Alpina Launch Luxury Analog Smartwatches

Geneva, Switzerland—A smart watch that looks like a classic luxury watch is finally here. The Horological Smartwatch, with models to be offered by both Frederique Constant and Alpina, is being hailed as the bridge between Silicon Valley and the traditional luxury Swiss watch industry.

Powered by MotionX®, Swiss Horological Smartwatches are capable of bi-directional communication with iPhone and Android apps, yet still retain the classic dial of a luxury watch instead of the expected digital screen. The first Swiss Horological Smartwatches will offer the following functionalities:

Yes, it's a smartwatch! Frederique Constant's classic dress version, above, and Alpina's sportier style, below, both tie into apps on iPhone or Android platforms.

The MotionX patented sensor-fusion engine tracks activity and sleep patterns with high accuracy, which is then automatically synchronized with apps on iOS and Android smartphones. Simple, easy-to-understand graphics highlight movement and sleep patterns.

MMT (Manufacture Modules Technologies Sàrl), creators of MotionX-365, is a new Geneva-based joint venture formed by Fullpower Technologies, Inc. of Silicon Valley and the owners of the Frederique Constant Group. Its mission is to bring the MotionX-365 Horological Smartwatch ppen platform to the Swiss watch industry.

Fullpower creates and licenses the schematic design, firmware, smartphone applications, and cloud infrastructure to MMT. In turn, MMT manages the development and production of Swiss watch movements (also referred to as modules) incorporating Fullpower's technology, and licenses and provides support for the MotionX-365® Horological Smartwatch platform to the Swiss watch industry.

Both Frederique Constant and Alpina will launch more than 10 different Horological Smartwatch models for both men and women this year. The watches are anticipated to be ready for retail sale starting in June.
