Timeless Fine Jewelry Partners With Helpusadopt.org

New York, NY—Timeless Fine Jewelry has officially partnered with national non-profit organization Helpusadopt.org, a financial assistance grant program that provides couples and individuals with grants of up to $15,000 towards their domestic, international, foster or special needs adoption expenses.

Timeless chief marketing officer Jackie Cohen first learned about Helpusadopt.org after her own journey to adopt her now two-year-old baby girl, Julia. Having become all too familiar with the emotional and financial struggles and strains that trying to adopt a child can have on an individual or a couple, the mission of Helpusadopt.org struck a personal chord in Cohen’s heart and led her to not just contribute financially to the organization, but stand behind it in its mission to find more new, loving homes for adoptable children.

The average adoption now costs around $40,000. Since its founding in 2007, Helpusadopt.org has awarded almost a million dollars in total adoption grants to wide range of recipients, including single parent and LGBT families, helping to build over 100 families.

Most recently, Timeless Fine Jewelry became a backer of Helpusadopt.org’s annual charity event, The Face Of Adoption, to be held in April 19 in New York City’s Espace. Timeless is a Gold Level sponsor, with a $5000 donation to the organization and a $1000 Timeless Fine Jewelry gift card for the event’s silent auction.

“Most people have no idea just how hard it is and how much money it takes trying to adopt a child,” says Cohen. “This organization speaks to my heart and I want to do everything within my power to help them continue their mission of love and hope.”

Cohen’s journey to adopt Julia after spending many years and dollars on fertility treatments also inspired Timeless’s launch of a new jewelry line called “My Story.”

Though warned about the lengthy waiting periods common before parents get the chance to adopt, Cohen was one of the lucky ones: soon after placing a set of national adoption advertisements, she got a phone call that a woman in Indiana was days away from giving birth and could not keep the baby. Cohen flew out to meet the mother and joined her for a checkup. Baby Julia was born three hours after they got to the hospital, and days later Cohen flew back with her to New York City.

The journey inspired her to create a small, simple baguette ring in citrine, Julia’s birthstone, to symbolize her own coming into motherhood. The ring caught the attention of friends and jewelry clients alike and eventually evolved into an entire collection Cohen named “My Story.”

“Everyone has a story,” she says. “Whether it’s your child, your parents, your siblings, there is always a story. I wanted to create a line that would bring out those stories through our jewelry.” The My Story collection of rings, earrings and pendants are available in yellow, white, and rose gold. Highly customizable, each piece features a special gemstone keeping your story close to your heart.

Competition Highlights Stuller Bench Workshop

Lafayette, LA—Stuller hosted its annual Bench Jeweler Workshop last weekend, welcoming more than 200 jewelers from across the country to participate and learn from more than 20 industry professionals with expertise ranging from casting to engraving to stone setting to jeweler services.

“Workshop has always been a customer favorite. It draws a dynamic, enthusiastic crowd each year,” says Stuller vice president of merchandising Tammy Kidder. “Attendees can count on making lifelong friends, learning something new, and having a good time at Workshop. And the Battle of the Benches competition we added this year just gave it an additional layer of excitement.”

“This is my second time attending the Bench Jeweler Workshop on behalf of Jewelers of America (JA), and I think it’s just great,” says Matthew Tratner of JA. “There’s a lot of information being shared at this event, things that they [attendees] are going to take away from this that are really going to help their businesses.”

A new feature of the event was the inaugural “Battle Of The Benches” competition, which drew 40 applications from which the four competing jewelers were chosen. The four jewelers competing were: David Adamson of David Adamson Designer Jewelry, Patrick Dobbs of Dianna Rae Jewelry, Craig Farley of FCF Jewelry Design, and Jonathan Smiddy of Acori Diamonds & Design. Adamson won both the CAD and Render and Parts and Pieces challenges, while Smiddy won the Polishing and Finishing challenge. Adamson also was declared the overall winner.

“These four guys are some of the best jewelers in the industry. They really outdid themselves and produced some of the most beautiful jewelry I’ve ever seen. We couldn’t have asked for a better inaugural event,” said Kidder.

Adamson said, “I’m honored to have won the first Battle of the Benches competition. It was a fun weekend: tough, but really a great time. And I enjoyed having the opportunity to work alongside the other contestants; they’re truly wonderful artists.”

Pease & Curren Offers Manufacturers Precious Metals Loss Prevention Audits

Warwick, RI—Pease & Curren has announced it will offer Precious Metals Loss Prevention Audits as an added value to customers. The audit uses best practices from major manufacturers and incorporates them into the facility’s daily processes.

Upon request, a Pease & Curren refining consultant will be dispatched to a manufacturer’s facility to perform an audit, and then provide insight as to where improvements can be made or what may increase returns in the reclamation process.

A recent customer audit revealed a simple maintenance step was missing that was costing the company $8,000 – $10,000 in profit every year: the customer was essentially “throwing money away” as hidden precious metals were found in some improperly disposed cleaning supplies.

“The most prestigious jewelers depend on us to handle their precious metals and stone removal” said Raymond Farnsworth, vice president of Pease & Curren Refiners. “By adding this service, we are providing a way for manufacturers to uncover precious metals waste in the manufacturing process.”
