Peach Morganite, Chocolate Deco Named Top Trends At Le Vian Fashion Revue

Las Vegas, NV—With its signature red carpet entrance, VIP seating, and celebrity photo-ops, the Le Vian Red Carpet Revue has become a Sunday afternoon tradition bringing a bit of the flavor of Fashion Week to the JCK Show.

This year’s event was no different, beginning with a cocktail reception and progressing to a panel discussion about the various trends in fashion and how those relate to jewelry—specifically, Le Vian jewelry.

As always, the event was sponsored by Harper’s Bazaar magazine, and its executive editor Avril Graham served as narrator. This year’s discussion panel was comprised of Graham, plus TV personality Mario Lopez, Le Vian CEO Eddie Le Vian, and E!’s famous fashion couple, Bill and Giuliana Rancic.

“Deco-inspired looks dazzled on the runway. This 1920s design style most popular in architecture makes a daring statement in fine jewelry with Chocolate Deco, the Le Vian 2016 Design Trend of the Year,” said Le Vian. The brand showed examples of the Chocolate Deco trend in both jewelry and its new line of handbags, along with new watch models from Le Vian Time.

Graham offered the updated androgyny of a slouchy pantsuit as one of her favorite runway looks. The mix of slightly oversized but strategically fitted shows a feminine take on a traditionally masculine style.

Le Vian’s 2015 Gem of The Year, Peach Morganite, plays well with Chocolate Deco (earrings shown top of page). It also fits well into the current trend for nude tones in nail polish, handbags, and shoes—a trend no doubt sparked or at least amplified by Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton’s signature LK Bennett nude patent leather pumps, which she pairs with many outfits.

Other key design trends highlighted during the fashion show include stackables, cuffs and bangles, lace and chains, lacy fishnet, repeating logo, neo geo, square links, chocolate pony, pleats, and gladiator loops.

“Ruffles and pleats can be seen in many fall fashions and accessories, from ruffles trimming shos and bags to strategic pleats creating fullness in fashion. Fine jewelry brings a sparkling multidimensional look to this trend with pleated bands, ruched rings, and more,” said Le Vian.

Key color trends include Bordeaux wine (a close relative of marsala, the Pantone 2015 Color Of The Year), blueberry, sea blue, spumoni opal (named for the famous frozen Italian dessert) and the previously mentioned combinations of peach and nude tones.

Jewelers Mutual Warns Engaged Couples, “Think Before You Post!”

Neenah, WI—Just like burglars may “like” to use a jeweler’s social media pages to case the store, an innocent engagement ring “selfie” photo on social media also can attract the wrong kind of attention.

Close-up photos of engagement rings on the hands of brides-to-be are popping up on thousands of social media pages, and both jewelers and designers often encourage customers to post their engagement ring photos on their business’s social media pages. But like any news, stop and think about safety first, says the insurer. With the average engagement ring costing $5,855 (according to The Knot), it is a tempting target for thieves.

Trina Woldt, chief marketing officer at Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company says that while social media is an easy, fast, and popular way for a couple to share news of their engagement, they should first think about who will see the picture of their engagement ring. Will the picture be visible to just family and friends, or will it be seen by friends of friends or the public?

“Location settings make it easy to know exactly where someone is every time they ‘check in,’” Woldt warns. “If your posts are ‘public,’ you’re sharing that information with the world. Consider limiting the number of people who will see your posts and know where you are at any given time.”

For jewelers who add personal engagement ring photos to their social media pages, they should make sure to remove any information—such as last names and cities of residence—which could be used to track down customers. Technology has made locating individuals much easier. While it’s good news for people who want to connect in a positive way, it has made finding potential victims a much easier process for criminals.

“Along with sharing information on how to care for their new ring, jewelers can offer tips on how to spread news of the engagement that can help keep the couple and their ring safe,” she says. She also suggests that jewelers talk to their customers about insuring their engagement ring as soon as possible.

“An engagement ring is often someone’s most treasured and most valuable piece of jewelry,” Woldt said. “Should the ring be damaged, lost, or stolen, many insurance policies may not fully cover its value or guarantee repair or replacement from their jeweler.
