Peter Storm Gives $10,000 Ring To MI Jeweler’s Customer

San Mateo, CA—Not too many designers are in the habit of giving away their goods, but designer Peter Storm recently did just that. He gave a $10,000 diamond ring to the winner of a special Facebook contest in the United States and Canada. This special video documented the ring presentation from start to finish.

The lucky winner was Angelyn Groenboom of Grand Rapids, MI, who received the platinum and diamond ring at Preusser Jewelers, the local Peter Storm retailer in the city. Storm and his wife, Anne, flew to Grand Rapids for the presentation, which turned out to be a celebration of four generations of Groenboom’s family and her longtime boyfriend (now fiancé) Michael Kuyper. The couple are shown left.

“Wow, it’s really pretty! It’s really pretty,” Groenboom kept saying as she gazed at her new ring.

Contest winner Angelyn Groenboom opens her Peter Storm ring at Preusser Jewelers in Grand Rapids, MI, with soon-to-be fiance Michael Kuyper and four generations of friends and family looking on.

“This was absolutely the most fun contest ever,” Anne Storm told The Centurion. We gained more than 60,000 friends on Facebook, and have seen a huge increase in our online traffic. Customers are emailing our retailers, too.” The couple, who met in high school, weren’t officially engaged at the time Groenboom won the ring, but they took care of that technicality shortly after, on August 23. The day they got engaged?

“Peter's birthday!” laughed Anne, calling the two “the absolute cutest couple ever.”

Insisting that his retail partners share in the benefits of the promotion, Peter Storm put Preusser Jewelers in the forefront of the video. "This contest reflects Peter's flair for the dramatic that we love in his designs. We couldn't be happier to share in the celebration," said Debra Clegg, general manager of Preusser Jewelers.

"It was a great day. We had four generations of the winner's family in attendance. The film allows everyone to feel what it was like to be there," said the designer. He encourages other retailers to share the video on their websites and Facebook pages because, “the next Peter Storm presentation might be at your store, with your lucky customer.”

New York, NY—In the digital world, engaging content is everything. Now, even flash sale sites have to get beyond their “buy-it-now” bargain-basement urgency. Indeed, Rue La La is morphing into a lifestyle tastemaker, and this week its jewelry buyers offered up their “Top 24 Picks” of fine jewelry must-haves for the season. Among those chosen were Honora’s pearl and diamond earrings, Slane’s 18k gold and silver bee necklace, and KC Designs’ Zodiac diamond pendant.

JJ Number 8 Jewelry Embraces New Medium With The Launch Of Her New Short Film Freedom

Laguna Beach, CA—JJ Number 8 jewelry also embraced the art of film recently with the launch of its very own first short film, titled “Freedom.”

While video has become a popular emerging medium in the fashion industry, it still remains a relatively unexplored medium in the jewelry industry. The new JJ Number 8 short film captures the inspiration behind the luxurious jewelry collection.

A still from JJ Number 8's film.

“When I design JJ Number 8 jewelry, I have this world I escape to in my imagination. It’s a world that brings me peace. Up until now, it’s been a world that I’ve only been able to express through my jewelry. But I wanted to share this world and bring the story to life through film and artistic cinematography and invite everyone to experience it with me,“ says JJ, the creator of the line.

The film captures the inspiration of JJ Number 8 jewelry and its southern California beach lifestyle. The art direction has a nurturing calmness, mixed with a brisk execution to give it a fun soft energy and playful femininity.

“To me, it celebrates what it really feels like to be a woman,” says JJ. She finds inspiration in the ocean and the color of various fruits, which are expressed in the film through the beach and watermelon scenes.

Marquise-shaped gemstones are signature to the JJ Number 8 collection and a key design inspiration. “The marquise shape has a flow and kinetic energy to it that moves me as an artist,” says JJ. She also loves hoop earrings, another signature of the collection.

“To me, hoop earrings are like the fountain of youth of jewelry. They bring out the fun, playful spirit in all of us,” she says. The line features rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets designed in fine 18k gold and sterling silver, with diamonds and colored gemstones.
