Shinola Launches Limited Edition Henry Ford Pocket Watch

Detroit, MI—Shinola, the American-made watch brand based in the Motor City, this week will launch a special limited edition Henry Ford Pocket Watch to honor Ford’s incredible contribution to America’s history of innovation and industry.  This handcrafted pocket watch is the second timepiece in The Great Americans Series, a collection of limited edition watches paying homage to the titans and icons that changed the world. This limited, once a year offering allows us to remind ourselves and our community whose shoulders we are standing on, and how hard we need to continue to work to reach their great heights.

The pocket watch retails for $1,000.00 and will be available for purchase through Shinola.com, in Shinola stores, and in select retailers beginning October 24. The pocket watch will be produced in a limited edition of 1,000, and each one will be sold with a leather-bound coffee table book that features rare imagery from the Archive of American Innovation at The Henry Ford in Dearborn, MI.

Special packaging with each pocket watch includes:

Purchase of The Henry Ford Limited Edition Pocket Watch also includes membership into The Foundry: a private collectors’ club established exclusively for owners of limited edition Shinola products.

“We are honored to have collaborated with Shinola on The Henry Ford Limited Edition Pocket Watch,” said Patricia Mooradian, president of The Henry Ford. “It’s very fitting that Henry Ford is included in The Great Americans Series as he would have identified with the work that Shinola is doing today. It was through his early passion of tinkering with watches that sparked his curiosity in mechanics and led him to become the innovator we know of today.”

Alpina Names Skier Tina Maze Its New Global Brand Ambassador

Geneva, Switzerland—Tina Maze, double Olympic Ski Champion, has been named as the new global ambassador for Alpina Watches and its new COMTESSE women’s collection.

With two Olympic gold medals at the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, two gold medals and eight podium appearances at the World Championships, and a total of 23 victories, 68 podiums and the absolute record of 2414 points in one season in the Alpine Skiing World Cup, Maze is making skiing history and is currently one of the world’s best female alpine skiers.

Maze and Alpina are united by their love for Alpine sports and identify with the same “Alpinist” values.  These are:

  1. Think independently. In 2008 Maze broke “established rules,” creating an independent team with companion coach Andrea Massi. This decision turned out to be the right one and has brought her the greatest success so far, including two Olympic gold medals. Alpina is an independent watch brand, producing its own movements since 1883, and going its own way in marketing and design solutions.
  2. Persevere.
  3. Trust your instincts.
  4. Don’t forget your roots. Maze promotes Slovenian tourism and frequently returns to her hometown to meet with youngsters and young athletes.

Maze and Alpina’s partnership includes advertising, PR and social media around the Comtesse Collection, which embodies Swiss Alpine style and luxury sports.

Guido Benedini, Alpina CEO, says, “Tina Maze is an extraordinary athlete with an amazing character that reflects our company’s attitude. She is an example for any woman who wants to achieve something in life and sports, and we are extremely proud to have her with us.“
