Neeley, a Manitou Springs High School graduate who grew up in Chipita Park, returned to the region after two decades to show 55 pieces from his Resonance and XOX collections. The event also included one-of-a-kind designs created with his SpectraGold technique.
"Everything is very thought out and it's won so many awards because people who work at the different jewelry organizations know the forethought that goes into creating a stunning work of art," said Bridget McBride, general manager of Broadmoor Jewelry Co., per the report.
The showcase featured jewelry in gold and rare gemstones, including tourmalines, aquamarines, and pearls. His background as a pianist inspired pieces from Neeley's Resonance line, while the XOX collection reinterpreted the "hugs and kisses" motif.
As per the report, Neeley began collecting rocks in Colorado as a child, later learning stone cutting and silversmithing before selling jewelry at local art shows. He went on to study gemology at the Gemological Institute of America and jewelry design in Florence, Italy.
Neeley's SpectraGold process, finalized in 2009 after extensive trials, creates a gradient effect transitioning from yellow to white gold. A pendant made with the technique was later acquired by the Smithsonian Institution.
McBride noted that Neeley's Colorado upbringing and early experiences with gemstones shaped his design approach, making his work distinct.
