Christe James Works To Fight Parkinson’s Disease

Danville, CA--Key executives and representatives from the Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF), which raises money to fight Parkinson’s Disease, have recognized the all-volunteer fundraising organization, The Danville d’Elegance (DDE) Foundation for its ongoing philanthropic efforts to raise money for Parkinson’s research and patient care.

In nearly eight years, DDE, founded by Christine and Jim Edlund of Christe James Fine Jewelry Works, has raised more than $1.3 million for the cause. Traditionally splitting its proceeds between The Parkinson’s Institute (TPI) in Sunnyvale, Calif., and the Team Fox arm of The Michael J. Fox Foundation, the DDE raised and contributed more than $330,000 in 2011, earning it the number three spot in TPI’s “Top 10” and was recognized within the annual “Team Fox MVP Awards Honoring Highest 2011 Fundraisers.”

DDE’s annual fundraising weekend of charitable automotive-related events, features the annual Danville Concours d’Elegance (September 15-16, 2012), which draws car collectors, automotive enthusiasts, and the local community together to have fun, and support the Parkinson’s cause. The weekend features a gathering of street and racing cars, along with additional exciting vehicle surprises, and great wine tasting and food. www.danville-delegance.org.

Auto enthusiasts from all over attend the Danviile D'Elegance event to benefit Parkinson's Disease.

The recognition event, held at the Edlunds’ home earlier this month, included an inspirational presentation by young Sam Fox, the Berkeley graduate that ran the 2,650 mile Pacific Crest Trail from Canada to Mexico to raise awareness and funds in honor of his mom, who has Parkinson’s Disease.
