Frederique Constant supports Eva Longoria in Cannes

Cannes, France--During the Cannes International Film Festival, Swiss watchmaker Frederique Constant supported a star-studded charity evening hosted by actresses Eva Longoria and Denise Rich, benefiting The Eva Longoria Foundation and Gabrielle's Angel Foundation. The evening featured Longoria and Rich sharing news of their latest projects and fundraisers, with the ultimate aim of generating awareness and funds for each organization. Guests—luminaries from the worlds of film, music, fashion, and more—included Alec Baldwin, Michelle Rodriguez, Goga Ashkenazi, Roberto Cavalli, Diddy, Cassie, Amaury Nolasco, Tara Reid and many more.

Letta and Peter Stas, COO and CEO, respectively, of Frederique Constant, said, “Luxury also means having the opportunity to contribute to helping those in need, as has Eva Longoria for many years. We are happy to support her and other charities.” They're shown at left with Longoria.

The Eva Longoria Foundation was established in 2010 by actress, activist, and philanthropist Eva Longoria. This foundation has been established primarily for, but not limited to, two charitable causes: women in the Latino community and children. Its mission is to help women build better futures for themselves and their families through education and entrepreneurship. The Foundation supports programs that help girls excel in school and attend college, and works with female entrepreneurs on career training, mentorship, capital, and opportunity. Separately, the Foundation also helps raise awareness for children of all ethnic and racial backgrounds suffering from health-related problems.

The purpose of Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research is to encourage the development of more effective therapies for patients with leukemia, lymphoma and related cancers. The Foundation funds innovative clinical or basic science research that will lead to novel therapeutic approaches that could replace, or be used in combination with existing effective therapies.

The Foundation funds research to improve the efficacy of cancer treatments, reduce their toxicity and improve the quality of life of patients with leukemia or lymphoma, and supports limited scientific interchange between select leaders in different areas of bio and integrative medical research, to develop unique and important collaborative efforts that will lead to improvements in the treatment and care of patients with leukemia and lymphoma.

Duchess of Cambridge Goes Faux

London, United Kingdom—What does it say when the world’s most-watched woman, who has access to probably more legendary jewelry than anyone else in the world, chooses to wear costume jewelry to not just one, but two, gala events?

It says the trend for mixing precious and non-precious is here to stay, and one can assume she actually bought them rather than borrowing them a la Hollywood.

Kate Middleton's silver and crystal earrings by Beaut.

At the Thirty Club dinner at Claridges Hotel in London earlier this month, Kate Middleton, aka the Duchess of Cambridge, chose a pair of Beaut sterling silver earrings with 9 ct gold hoops and crystal paste stones to accent a cream-color dress. The duchess wore the same earrings, called the Ava earrings, once before, with a Jenny Packham Grecian-style dress. The duchess is famous for her willingness to wear her outfits multiple times in public, as she clearly has with these earrings.
