Great Neck, NY—Le Vian Corp has a long family history in the industry and is looking to add to their team in Great Neck, NY. The firm needs a sorter and a quality control associate.
Essential Job Responsibilities, Sorter:
- Sort diamonds and gemstones Sort diamonds and gemstones based on quality and weight for the Diamond and Gemstone Buyers
- Pick and match stones for Diamond and Gemstone Inventory Associates
- Set up jewelry layouts and select gemstones for matched sets
- Based on designs, select gemstones and set up jewelry layouts
- Select gemstones for matched sets
- Complete and submit paperwork on a job sheet with the layout and stones to production
- Provide interdepartmental support including but not limited to tagging, Quality Assurance, and transfers
- Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Able to sit at and work at a desk for extended periods
- Able to lift and carry 10 pounds and reach/bend to retrieve documents in cabinets and on shelves
- Visual acuity
- Dexterity using fingers and or tweezers to handle gemstones
Work Environment:
- Typical office environment
- Willing and able to work additional hours as needed to ensure responsibilities are met
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years’ hands on experience working with gemstones and diamonds
- Proven experience using a loupe or hand lens to inspect and evaluate gemstones and finished jewelry
- Unquestionable integrity and ethics
- Well organized, results oriented
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook preferred
The Quality Assurance Associate will evaluate new merchandise if quality standards are met. Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate each piece of new merchandise against established standards and requirements set by LeVian and the customer
- Evaluate and report on quality of each piece of merchandise relative to a specific list of requirements established by LeVian and the customer
- Record findings on the system as each item is being evaluated
- Review findings with the manager for final decisions relative to pass or failures
- Provide QA support within the QA department relative to bulk returns
- Evaluate and report on quality of each piece of merchandise relative to a specific list of requirements established by LeVian
- Record findings on a written report as each item is being evaluated
- Review findings with the manager for final decisions relative to pass or failures
- Provide QA support within the QA department relative to samples
- Evaluate and report on quality of each sample relative to a specific list of requirements established by LeVian

- Physical Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
- College degree a plus
- 2 years’ quality assurance experience working with fine jewelry
- 1 year experience evaluating diamonds and gemstones
- Gemological degree or certification is a plus
- Proven experience using a loupe or hand lens to inspect and evaluate diamonds
- Takes personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work, and achieves results with little oversight
- Accomplish work in a deadline-driven work environment
- Unquestionable integrity and ethics
- Proven ability to produce high quality work in a deadline driven environment
- Detail oriented
- Working knowledge with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is a plus
