Diana Spence of the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce and Rudy Marconi, Ridgefield's First Selectperson, both noted the store's integral role in the community and its long service to Ridgefield’s residents.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your loyal support and making us part of your special occasions for 74 years," a sign on the front door said, per a report in The Ridgefield Press.

“It’s a mix of emotions seeing Craig’s Fine Jewelry closing,” Spence said, per the report. “This store has been a cornerstone of Main Street Ridgefield, woven into the fabric of our town. Billy Craig has been more than just a business owner; he’s been an active member of our community.

"His commitment to 'shop local' and community building has been truly inspiring. While we’ll miss having Craig’s Fine Jewelry around, Billy’s impact on our community will always sparkle.”

The store's history dates back to 1950 when Helen Kiernan Craig bought it, eventually passing it through the family to Billy Craig, the last owner.

The Craig family has been involved in various community efforts, including volunteer firefighting and local organizations.
