De Beers Group Diamond Insight Report Ready for Free Download July 06, 2020 (0 comments)
Stamford, CT--Forevermark USA's President Charles Stanley has released the De Beers Group's Diamond Insight Flash Report #2. A communication from Stanley summarized key findings:
The research shows Americans continue to live in a heightened emotional state. Awareness of and gratitude for one’s life and relationships are top of mind. In jewelry and fashion, a preference for “timeless classics” in the items desired and purchased has climbed to 72%. And this holiday season, people still rate “meaningful” as the most important quality in the gifts they will give to their loved ones. Diamond jewelry also performed higher than in Wave 1 [Flash report #1] as the most desired gift, with 38% planning to give or desiring to receive.

Consumer Pulse Survey of 500
The Diamond Insight Flash Report #2 also includes a Pulse Survey of 500 Consumers about the jewelry shopping experience. Department stores (39%) and independent jewelers (21%) are the most-trusted channels to make the most effort to ensure the in-store shopping experience is safe and secure for the customer, according to the survey. Only 4% were comfortable shopping without safety measures in place. And, consumers prefer to buy diamond jewelry at their local independent jeweler (62%) for the expert advice and personal attention received in-store over buying online.
Conversations with retailers indicate a great deal of pent-up demand by consumers, a very strong engagement ring business, a substitution of upgraded jewelry gifts for summer travel, and a stronger season than normal for graduation gifting. Most feel that they will have a very strong fourth quarter if there is not another significant outbreak. Please note the “Key Takeaways and Tips” section to learn how retailers have reacted to survive this crisis.
