Decluttering Nets Woman Two Bags Of DiamondsFebruary 21, 2018 (0 comments)
|Merrick, NY—An online challenge to declutter led one lucky lady to find two small bags of loose diamonds in her house.
Every year since 2011, blogger and author Ann Marie Heasley of WhiteHouseBlackShutters.com has challenged herself to get rid of 40 bags of clutter over the 40 days of the Lenten season. Heasley then launched the challenge on social media, with a Facebook page for followers to add their own decluttering stories, and she also offers a series of helpful tips and downloadable organization worksheets on her blog.
Group members share photos of cluttered spaces before and after, share memories about vintage products, or ask advice about unloading valuable items they’ve inherited but don’t need or want. Inevitably, the subject of jewelry came up, but in a most unexpected fashion. One member of the Facebook group (name removed for security) posted this picture, below.
Of course, there followed a host of expected comments, such as “if I thought I’d find a bag of diamonds, I’d clean every day!” or “I found a dime in the washing machine this morning,” and “Wow, I was excited to find $3 in the pocket of a pair of jeans, but…DIAMONDS?”
The original poster wasn’t the only one to find a treasure:
Unfortunately, there also followed a few sad tales of lost wedding bands and other precious pieces gone missing:
- “I lost my wedding ring and am still hoping that this 40 days will help me find it.”
- “My diamond fell out of my wedding ring and it was in the silverware drawer!!”
- “I did find my husband’s wedding band. One of our moms cleaned the kitchen; aka she loaded a basket with stuff from the kitchen and put it in the basement!”
Just imagine what you might find if you took the challenge in your store. It could be the basis for a great spring promotion and sale! As for the woman who found the two bags of diamonds, group members all agreed that “finders keepers!” is only fair. We think a gorgeous gold circle pendant with those diamonds scattered across it would be a really on-trend idea.
