Don’t Do This At Home! HGTV Stars Wearing Jewelry During DemoJuly 08, 2020 (0 comments)
|King of Prussia, PA—You have to love the leading ladies of HGTV. Why? Because they love jewelry.
In addition to jewelry and fashion, I’ve always had a passion for interior design. My husband will vouch that I can spend an hour moving a candlestick an inch here or there till it’s perfect. I can hang art spot-on even without ruler or level. And when I brought a tiny chip of paint too small for Home Depot’s matching machine, I just did the obvious and plucked an identical match from the wall of paint swatches. Apparently that's not normal behavior, because the paint manager offered me a job on the spot. Maybe I ought to take AGS’s ColorVision test?
As you can guess, I’m addicted to HGTV. Watching some of the network's leading ladies, I couldn’t help but notice their obvious love of jewelry. Not surprisingly, Cartier’s Juste Un Cleu gold nail bracelet is a hit with this crowd, especially for Bargain Mansions’ Tamara Day (top image) and Windy City Rehab’s Alison Victoria.
Tamara Day's Instagram feed shows her wearing her signature Cartier bracelet with a trendy gold paperclip bracelet.
Both ladies are serious jewelry lovers, if their on-set attire is any indication of their regular wardrobes. I greatly admire not only their interior design talents but also their fashion styles, both of which are quite similar to mine. But wearing a $6,800 gold bracelet to rip out a kitchen? One of the first things I learned upon entering this industry 35 years ago is to take off your jewelry before doing housework, let alone house demolition!
Tamara Day also wears a diamond station necklace layered with a diamond cross pendant or another delicate gold necklace. She usually wears a watch, typically sporting what looks like a Shinola Runwell, which she alternates with what looks like a diamond pavé bezel Michele chrono (I have the same two watches myself) and also with what looks like a Cartier Ballon Bleu.
Alison Victoria, meanwhile, has an impressive stack of jewelry that she wears in pretty much every episode. Along with the Cartier nail, she’s got what looks like the Cartier Love bracelet, a diamond Tiffany T bangle, and a station bracelet with a quatrefoil motif that looks like either Van Cleef & Arpels’ Alhambra or a Roberto Coin flower piece (it’s hard to tell from TV), plus what looks like a Pomellato diamond pavé ring, and a few other designer pieces.

Christina Anstead, the female lead from Flip or Flop and star of her own show, Christina On The Coast, is rarely seen without her signature big earrings, especially gold hoops. She’s often got some impressive rings on or a pile of bracelets and usually also a necklace or two, but she’s typically directing the design, not swinging the sledgehammer.
Among other HGTV leading ladies, Home Town’s Erin Napier is usually seen wearing her engagement and wedding rings (sometimes also while doing messy projects) and she is usually sporting small earrings. Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper fame (below) also likes a hoop earring and wears her wedding band but during the series she left the heavy demo work to husband Chip.
Pittsburgh native Leanne Ford’s signature minimalism (Restored By The Fords) crosses over from interiors to fashion, as she favors sculptural clothing and is rarely seen in much jewelry. And finally, Hidden Potential’s Jasmine Roth and Good Bones’ mother-and-daughter team of Mina Starsiak Hawk and Karen Laine might love jewelry off camera, but we rarely see them wearing it on Demo Day.
Above, from top: Fixer Upper's Joanna Gaines loves hoop earrings. Windy City Rehab's Alison Victoria also likes layered gold necklaces (the lower one might be Tiffany), and Bargain Mansions' Tamara Day, shown with Extreme Makeover's Jesse Tyler Ferguson, is seen wearing her signature diamond station necklace, diamond cross, and what looks to be a Cartier watch.
