Earring Trend Alert! Climbers Are The New Must-HavesJuly 23, 2014 (0 comments)
|Merrick, NY—Forget the debate between matchsticks and chandeliers, hoops and drops. The newest trend in earrings is looking up, so to speak: sparklers that start at the lobe and creep upward along the outer edge of the ear.
As most jewelry trends do, this one began with celebrities. Established style-leading stars such as Halle Berry, Jennifer Lawrence, and Jessica Alba all have been spotted wearing ear-climbers, and fashion editors at both Harpers’ Bazaar and InStyle magazines are just gushing over them. InStyle even shows a host of non-precious costume varieties on its website. Remember, just as fashion influences today are equally likely to go from the street up as from haute couture down, so do fine jewelry influences. Who did more to rocket rose gold from specialty to mainstream than Michael Kors with his famous—and famously affordable—watches?
Recently, InStore magazine featured a blog post about ear climbers. Here at The Centurion Newsletter, we couldn’t agree more: it’s definitely a must-have for fall. By drawing the eye up and outward, it can provide a visual lift to the face. And the best thing is that like all fine jewelry, they can be redesigned if or when the trend passes: Move the post and convert them to a traditional dangle or add a bail and there’s a pendant.
