Per a report in The Item, the award was presented to owners Blythe and Robert C. Ernst Jr. at City Hall on January 19. The ceremony featured endorsements from notable state officials, including State Senator Charles Schwertner, State Representative Kyle Kacal, and THC Executive Director Edward Lengel. The nomination was facilitated by Olivia Discon, an SHSU student and City of Huntsville intern, who prepared the application narrative after interviewing the Ernst couple.

Ernst Jewelers, in operation since 1893, has been a part of Huntsville's business fabric for over a century. The store, now managed by the fourth generation of the Ernst family, continues to offer high-quality jewelry and timepieces. Robert Ernst, a Gemological Institute of America graduate, brings expert gemological knowledge to the store, while Blythe Ernst focuses on customer service, ensuring a welcoming environment for patrons.

For over two decades, some staff with the company contributed to the store's reputation for quality and service. Engagement and bridal rings are a specialty, reflecting the store's significant role in customers' life events.

The business's history is deeply rooted in Huntsville, evolving from its establishment by C.A. Randolph and Robert Ernst through expansions and renovations to its current status as a respected local business. The recent renovations include a major remodel of the jewelry store in 2009 and updates to the store's exterior in 2019.

Accepting the Texas Treasure Business Award, Blythe and Robert acknowledge the importance of their community ties and express hopes of continuing their family legacy.
