FBI Seeks Fugitive Couple Accused of Jewelry Store Thefts Across the U.S. January 10, 2025 (0 comments)
Kansas City, KS--The FBI is searching for Vasile Sava and Onita Rostas, a married couple accused of organizing thefts targeting jewelry stores across the United States. Arrest warrants for Sava and Rostas were issued earlier this year in the United States District Court for the District of Kansas. Both face charges of conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property, according to a report by KMBZ.

The FBI alleges that the couple, along with other known and unknown accomplices, carried out thefts using distraction techniques. In these incidents, small groups would enter jewelry stores, distract or separate employees, and steal items displayed for purchase. This method, referred to as "sleight-of-hand distraction theft," allowed them to remove and conceal valuable items before exiting the store, the report noted.
Investigators believe the couple may be using multiple aliases and are potentially operating in various states, including California, Texas, Florida, Maryland, and Virginia.
The FBI has urged anyone with information about the couple’s whereabouts to contact law enforcement. Tips can be submitted through the FBI’s website at www.tips.fbi.gov or by calling the National FBI Tip Line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
