"Once we post something saying 'Finders keepers,' that's going to be your clue telling you where you're going to go, give you kind of an idea as to where it's going to be," said Charlie Fearon, jeweler apprentice, per the news report.

The Bangor-based store was founded by Sonny LeClair, who passed away in 2020 and had come up with the idea. Now, Penny Compton leads the transition as general manager.

"Sonny was always so good about giving back to the community," Compton said, per the report. "He always wanted to give and, you know, share with everybody, and we just continued with that tradition."

The hidden jewelry prices range from $50 to $500, and while nobody is quite sure about what these boxes contain, there's a thrill to this chase. The store is estimated to have given away $10,000 worth of jewelry since starting the event in 2017.
