Former Carlyle And Ritani Execs Join Forces To Create New Bridal Brand; Exclusive Video Interview June 11, 2014 (0 comments)
New York, NY—Russell Cohen, former chairman and CEO of retailer Carlyle & Co., and bridal jewelry designer Harout Aghjayan, the original creator of the Ritani brand, have teamed up to introduce a new plug-and-play bridal brand concept called Mireya.
Mireya, named from a Spanish word meaning miracle, offers a unique new “pick-a-head” fit system that allows brides to choose from a variety of pre-set center stones and see how they look in their chosen setting, not just loose between two fingers.
With the “pick-a-head” Mireya Fit System, rings are engineered to seamlessly accept the pre-set center diamonds with a precise, secure, and patented lock-in system, making each a complete, custom-created ring the bride can take home that same day, rather than asking her to choose from a CAD design or try to imagine a semi-mount with a center stone and wait for the finished piece—or choose from a limited selection of finished goods to have same-day service. Once a final selection is made in the Mireya Fit System, the ring can be fully assembled that same day, enabling retailers to close a bridal sale immediately.
Left, a Mireya Fit setting is empty until pre-sent oval (above right), round (below left), or square (below right) stones are snapped into place.
The Mireya Fit System also offers easy and fast modifications without completely rebuilding a ring, easy upgrades, and for those (fewer and fewer) grooms who still choose a ring without their bride’s input, the reassurance that if she doesn’t like it, it can be changed in minutes with a simple visit to the store. Retail prices range from $800 to $5,000.
Mireya also offers an assortment of finished goods in its signature Renaissance-inspired shank design. The collection consists of 20 variations of this signature style, and the brand offers 185 styles in total, all handmade in the USA in 14k, 18k, or platinum in a variety of price points in each category.
Says Cohen, “I am excited to be a part of this unique initiative in the bridal jewelry market. I am confident that the Mireya Fit System will be the key to transforming retailers’ abilities to sell engagement rings.”
Aghjayan added, “Pairing stunning design with cutting-edge technology creates a win-win situation for consumers and retailers alike.”
Industry veterans Russell Cohen, left, and Harout Aghjayan, right, are behind the Mireya brand.
In the future, the Mireya brand assortment will expand to include diamond wedding bands, wedding-day jewelry, everyday diamond jewelry and value-oriented sophisticated fashion collections.
The brand also offers an advertising campaign, website, and in-store displays.
