Charleston, SC--In a recent Quintin's Close-Ups interview, Croghan's Jewel Box's Mariana Hay discussed the store's fourth-generation ownership, customer service priorities, and Charleston's evolving retail environment.

Hay, who runs the business with her sister Rhett, said their children are involved and could continue the family's role in the future. She noted the new location at 155 King Street was designed with jewelry-specific architecture, improved lighting, and open displays to better present merchandise.

According to Hay, the move reflects a need to adapt and improve service. "If you’re not growing, you’re dying," she said, adding that the investment aimed to enhance the customer experience.

She also highlighted Charleston's ongoing development, citing the Building Improvement District's work on maintenance and tourist assistance, and pointing to upcoming projects such as a new park and the Union Pier redevelopment.

Hay said the goal is for Croghan's Jewel Box to remain a place where customers feel cared for and can find pieces they will value long-term. The store offers an hour of free parking at the nearby Queen Street garage.
