Phil Yantzer spoke with Centurion attendees about recent activity in the GIA Lab. The Lab had a record diamond intake in the 2nd half of 2009. A few highlights: The diamond shapes most often submitted were led by rounds – 82% in 2009 Colored stone intake continues to grow Increase in diamonds with triple excellence (cut, symmetry and polish)
And regarding size for diamonds in 2009: 22% were 0.50 – 0.69 carat 21% were 0.30 – 0.39 carat 19% were 1.00 – 1.49 carats
