Grandview Klein Diamonds Presents 4 Scholarships for Namibian Students November 19, 2025 (0 comments)
Windhoek, Namibia--Grandview Klein Diamonds (GKD) presented three new scholarships to exceptional students at the Namibia University of Science & Technology (NUST), along with a forth scholarship to the company’s own Office Manager, Ester Hakwenye, during a ceremony held on November 7 at NUST’s Windhoek campus.
The recipients are Munel Meyer (Bachelor of Business Management), Dusanca Mbailé (Bachelor of Human Nutrition), Chrisley Dlamine (Bachelor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management), and Ester Hakwenye (Master’s in Leadership and Change Management).
“Grandview Klein’s continued investment in our students is an inspiring example of private sector partnership at its best,” a NUST administrator said. “Their scholarships are not only transforming individual lives but also strengthening Namibia’s capacity for innovation, leadership, and sustainable development.”
This year’s investment, valued at N$124,000, builds upon Grandview Klein’s 2023 sponsorship of two NUST students, bringing the company’s total educational contribution to over N$270,000 ($15,737).
“Education truly makes a difference so thank you for investing in students like me and for giving us hope that we can truly make our dreams come true,” added Munel Meyer.
During the ceremony, Moshe Klein, CEO of Grandview Klein Diamonds, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to expanding access to education for Namibian students.
“Education has always been a cornerstone of our values,” he said. “True beneficiation goes far beyond production, it is about ensuring the people of Namibia gain the knowledge, skills, and opportunities that allow them to thrive long after the diamond leaves the mine.”
Reflecting on her own experience, Hakwenye, added, “As both an employee and a beneficiary, I am deeply honored to be part of a company that believes in the power of education. Grandview Klein is proof that beneficiation is not just about diamonds, it is about developing people and communities.”
A Legacy of Beneficiation in Action
Grandview Klein Diamonds views beneficiation as a philosophy of empowerment, ensuring that the value created from Namibia’s natural diamonds is shared directly with its people. Since establishing operations in Windhoek in 2007, GKDN has prioritized local employment, training, and education as the truest measures of success.
Today, over 70 percent of GKDN’s workforce is Namibian, and nationals hold key management positions across multiple departments. The company invests heavily in skills transfer, technical training, and leadership development to cultivate a new generation of Namibian diamond experts and industry leaders.
Its community efforts extend well beyond the factory floor. In 2023, GKDN awarded two full scholarships to NUST students from the Ohangwena and Oshana regions. That same year, GKDN and local partner Phillipine Angula Development Investments refurbished the Eros Primary School computer science lab, providing modern equipment, new infrastructure, and sanitary supplies for female students. In 2022, GKDN and its U.S. retail jewelry partners donated dialysis machines to the Oyetweni Clinic in Katutura, establishing the Diamond Dialysis Centre. These programs reflect GKDN’s belief that true beneficiation means investing in people first, ensuring that Namibia’s diamond legacy continues to create opportunity and upliftment for generations to come.
