Lucerne, Switzerland--The Gübelin Academy will be offering its Level 1 course on colored gemstones in New York on September 9 and 10. It will be the first time the course will be offered in New York.

Gübelin Academy courses are usually offered at its headquarters in Lucerne. The courses are geared toward gemstone enthusiasts and industry professionals. The company’s modular program, from Level 1 to Level 3, culminates in a Colored Gem Professional diploma. The courses begin with Level 1, which serves as the foundational for the program.

The Level 1 Course is a two-day immersive experience where participants will explore the gemological and historical basics of the “Big Three” gemstones: rubies, sapphires, and emeralds. This course covers essential assessment criteria, the value, history, gemology, and psychology of these precious gems. Participants will discover key gemological properties and the emotional allure of colored gemstones. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate of attendance.

“Our family-owned company has cherished a close bond with New York since the 1920s,” Raphael Gübelin, president of the House of Gübelin, said in a statement. “I am thrilled that the Academy offers its inspiring courses here and collaborates with the Gem Lab.”

In 2017, the Gübelin Gem Lab set up a permanent laboratory in New York to cater to the growing demand for gemological services in the U.S. Located at 608 Fifth Avenue, the lab provides scientific analysis of all types of gemstones. The Level 1 course will be held at this location.

Those interested can register on the Gübelin Academy website.
